Lou’s Favorite Burger Joints – It’s National Hamburger Month
Most of us think of having a hamburger with the start of warm weather. Burgers cooked on an open grill are the best. It's National Hamburger Month! If you’re in the mood for a good burger, but not in the mood to grill it, I have a few suggestions about where to go out and get some great burgers. With a few places that popped up in the Albany area over the past few years, you can get a great burger anytime.
5) Five Guys Burgers And Fries
I’m starting with the indoor / anytime places. Five Guys restaurants have been popping up all over the Albany area, including the new place in Colonie Center. They’re a little pricey, but still one of my favorites.
4) Red Robin (Yum)
The first time I went to Red Robin, I thought that it was a little expensive. I discovered that it’s worth splurging for once in awhile. But it became one of my favorite burger places. I have yet to try the onion rings.
3) High Bridge Twist Drive In
High Bridge Twist is just a few miles down the road from the WGNA studios, at 1268 Highbridge Road in Schenectady. One of the great summertime places to get your burgers and ice cream.
2) Jumpin’ Jacks Drive-in
Jumpin’ Jacks in Scotia survived severe flooding from Tropical Storms Irene and Lee, last year. They’re all rebuilt and going strong. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and have a burger picnic on the lawn next to the river.
1) Jack’s Drive-in
Jack’s Drive-In in Wynantskill is another warm weather favorite. I’ve already went there this year.
The last two, Jumpin’ Jacks and Jacks are interchangeable on my list as far as my favorites. Sometimes it depends on which one that I may be closest to that makes my decision to stop and get a burger.
You don’t want to have beef too often because if you do, it could cause some health problems. So I’m not talking about having a burger every day. Let’s just go by an average of once a week. Oh yeah - don’t forget the fries. Do you a favorite place to get a burger?
