Paula O'Neil and her daughter Chantel Batuk from Fultonville were both high school drop outs. So when the 52 year old was challenged by Chantel (31) to get their GED together she thought, "why not?". What Paula didn't expect, was for her daughter to keep pushing her.

After the two graduated from Fulton-Montgomery Community College, they enrolled in UAlbany's School of Social Welfare. They inspired other family members to join in on their success. Mom and daughter will graduate with honors together with grades of 3.9. Paula will continue her education and has been accepted to the advanced standing social work program. They will receive their diplomas from UAlbany on May 20th.

What a great accomplishment for both women and especially for a mother and daughter to experience it together.
