It is going to be hot this weekend and this popular beach is still off limits.Last year bacteria and E. coli levels shut down Million Dollar Beach in Lake George during peak times. It looked as if the season was a go until new testing was done. The DEC said not so fast.

There have been problems with sewage leaking into Lake George and there had been manageable levels of bacteria. But now the bacteria levels are high again and the beach will remain closed. Originally, the DEC suspected the bacteria was caused by ducks, and other animals but it turned out to be human waste. Although they have not found the cause of the sewage leak, they are still searching. The DEC is testing the lake again and should have results within a day or two.

Million Dollar Beach is one of my favorite destinations. It's a perfect drive from the Capital Region for a day getaway in the summer. It's too bad that they can't get the levels down and it cleaned up for everyone to enjoy. But, then again, it's just a delay and the summer hasn't even started yet. Hopefully we will all be able to enjoy this summer destination soon.
