Alex Trebek shared a shocking health revelation today but boldly stated in a video message that despite the grim prognosis, he vows to fight.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the longtime Jeopardy host and television icon Alex Trebek who showed tremendous strength and dignity while sharing the sad news.

Via a video message seen online at TMZ.com, Trebek stared down the camera and boldly informed his viewers that 'Like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week  I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer".

He added that he vows to beat the low survival rate odds with the help of his family, friends, loved ones and his tv viewers adding that "under the terms of the contract, I have three more years to host Jeopardy".

A moment of levity during a time of sadness and disbelief.

Trebek, 78 has been hosting the wildly popular and successful game show since 1984. Our thoughts, prayers and well wishes go out to this true tv icon and legend. Keep fighting sir!
