It's so exciting when a recognizable name comes to the Capital Region to grow and soon, that brand you keep seeing in the supermarkets will be coming from Glenville.

The Times Union is reporting that Wisconsin's BelGioioso Cheese is building a new cheese factory in Glenville, expanding their mozzarella and other cheese productions.

I didn't realize that BelGioioso already runs the former Cappiello's plant in Schenectady but this expansion will create 41 new jobs and keep 31 existing jobs. They also need to create 50 new jobs for the production of mozzarella along with the other more than 30 cheese they produce.

Being from Schenectady, I was happy to hear that they still intend to continue to produce Cappiello's cheese for their historical storefront on Broadway Downtown. You can already find the cheese at local supermarkets like Price Chopper. No word on the timeline for this new factory but it's good to know that we'll have more choices locally to support New York Dairy.
