A hiker got into a recent scuffle with a bear, and it wasn't over him eating out of her picnic basket.

The woman was hiking in Hamilton County, about 80 miles northwest of Albany, on Sept. 18 when she noticed three black bears following her, according to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise. One of the bears got so close to her, she decided to take matters into her own hands and stabbed the animal with a knife.

The woman was able to hike to safety, but the New York Department of Environmental Protection has warned hikers in the area to beware of aggressive bears.
