Golf To Help ‘Donate Life Center’ for Organ Donation

The 1^st Annual Dave LaFountain Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, August 11^th at Airway Meadows Golf Course in Gansevoort, NY.  The event is focused on raising money to support the Donate Life Center for Organ Donation and Transplant organization.

The purpose of this group is to provide a second chance at life for an individual in need of an anatomical gift. Teams must sign up by Saturday, July 14.  The administration fee is $80 and includes 18 holes w/cart, lunch & dinner and there will be individual and team prizes.  All proceeds will benefit the Donate Life Center for Organ Donation and Transplant.

Volunteer Barb Wilcox explains "The story behind Dave's death is that he died at age 53 from injuries sustained in an accident.  However, he had registered to be an organ donor and made sure his wife knew of his wishes.  Even though we lost Dave, his body and organs have gone on to help many other people and helped improve their quality of life and in some cases gave them a second chance at life. "

Wilcox continues "His widow and daughter have received several letters from the recipients of Dave's gift thanking them. His family has taken that a step further and not only have they become organ donors but have organized the 1st Annual Golf Tournament to raise funds to help support the organization that facilitates giving recipients that second chance or improved quality of life."
