After scoring multiple Grammy nominations, Glen Campbell's final song has been nominated for an Academy Award.

'I'm Not Gonna Miss You' appears on the soundtrack to the documentary film 'Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me,' which chronicles the music icon's final tour as he struggles with the increasing symptoms of Alzheimer's. Written with Julian Raymond, the song is both a wistful look back at Campbell's life and a poignant acknowledgement of everything his disease is slowly taking away from him.

The song is nominated for Best Original Song in the 87th annual Academy Awards, which were announced Thursday morning (Jan. 15). Campbell was previously nominated for an Oscar in 1969 for his song 'True Grit,' the title song of the John Wayne film in which he made his big-screen debut.

The news comes just weeks after 'I'm Not Gonna Miss You' was nominated for Best Country Song and Best Song Written for Visual Media in the 2015 Grammy Awards.
