I have to admit to you, I'm usually never THAT excited for awards shows. Well if you  don't count the CMA awards show where I was actually there because Richie and I won one. Tonight, however I am very excited to see the 48th ACM Awards for one particular moment.

When I was very young in the 1980's, I, like many others loved George Strait. He was one of the reasons I began to love the format. Then in the 1990's, Garth Brooks came along and solidified my love for Country forever.

Tonight they will perform together and honor the life of the Show's creator, Dick Clark. In 1979 Dick Clark created the ACM award to bring more national attention to the world of Country music, and with the help of artists like George and Garth that soon became more than a reality. Country is now a driving force in music and it's popularity is as strong as any other.

I could not think of a better way to honor the life of a great man like Dick Clark, he has been a driving force in music and television for so so many years. This is also how his son apparently felt as he sent both George and Garth hand written letters asking them to do this for the memory of his father. Both , happily agreed.

From what I understand each mat do a song of their own and a song together, though I'm sure there will be a surprise or two in there as well. They will be introduced by Reba making it a hat trick of Country Music Royalty, a moment I for one do not plan to miss. You should feel the same.

Dick Clark, 1929-2012. God Bless and Rest In Peace.
