I call them seagulls when I see them in Atlantic City, but when I see them here I call them dump gulls. The reason why is that I always see them congregating around garbage and landfills or wherever people drop food. Ironically the one in the picture was the very first dump gull of the season here at the WGNA studios on Kings Road in Schenectady. He was running around with a piece of bread that someone meant to throw in our dumpster but missed it. So the name dump gull holds true once again.The great news though is that this means Spring is truly here for the Albany area.
