There’s been something called the Parvovirus which has killed some dogs in the Amsterdam area. The virus is easily transmitted.

I saw this story on CBS 6 Albany and thought that this is something that every dog owner should know about. It was also noted that puppies seem to be more vulnerable to the virus.

The Parvovirus can be spread and transmitted by fecal matter. If you walk through a public area that’s infected with the virus, it can be spread on shoes.

Some things to watch for are severe diarrhea and vomiting, a quick change from your dog acting normal, and then a minute later doesn’t want to get up and just laying around and doesn’t want to eat. If you’re worried in any way, give your vet a call.

We want to make sure that any of your pets are safe and healthy.
