Divers Find Artillery Shells In Lake George

Some divers in Lake George discovered an unexpected find.

It was a crate of artillery shells. It’s believed that they’re from the 19^th century.

Navy divers were brought in to investigate the bottom of the lake around Million Dollar Beach. The search produced four crates of unused, eight inch shells that have ‘Hotchkiss’ markings on them. They were found about 65 feet under the lake.

Warren County Sheriff Bud York doesn’t know why the shells were in the lake, and would love to know more. In the story from News 10 ABC, he mentioned that anyone that may know about the shells to give the Warren County Sheriff’s Office a call - 518-743-2500.
