Chris Stapleton Performing for Our Troops on Fourth of July
Chris Stapleton will spend the upcoming Fourth of July holiday giving back to those who serve our country in uniform.
The breakout country star is set to perform for 40,000 troops on Monday (July 4) at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, as well as their families. He will also help to present a donation from Budweiser of a million dollars to Folds of Honor, which provides educational services to the spouses and children of fallen and disabled military members.
"I can't think of a more appropriate thing to do," the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter tells People. "No one who lives in the United States of America doesn't owe these guys a debt of gratitude. Anything we can do to honor them is a real treat to get to do."
Stapleton released his debut solo album, the acclaimed Traveller, early in 2015. He rocketed to overnight fame after a stellar evening at the 2015 CMA Awards that November, where he pulled off one of the most stunning sweeps in the history of the show.
"We had planned on taking this Fourth off, but then the opportunity to go celebrate the soldiers with Budweiser and Folds of Honor came up and it was just something we couldn't say no to," he says. "So we decided to go celebrate these guys and girls. I'm honored to meet them."
