Reading, Writing, & Rhyming

This was a first for me.  I've had this in my head for a long time.  Let's write a song with a small group in 1 hour (as usual), then have an assembly program later on where they sing their creation for the entire school (with everyone in the auditorium singing along!)  This was my trial run...

This might be the perfect anti bullying anthem.  It's creative, short and to the point.  Listen closely to the brilliant lyrics created by the kids from Stillwater Elementary.

Mrs Yager - you did it again!  Your class made me smile for an entire day (and into the night).  We had a blast and covered a very serious subject in the process.

Why do I continue to run out the door of the radio station once a week and visit schools?  Just listen to this song and you'll know why.

A fantastic time was had by all – especially me – with Mrs. Roarkes fifth graders at the Yates Elementary School in Schenectady.  They were more than kind – which coincidently was the subject of today's song for the Reading, Writing and Rhyming program.

We're coming up on ALMOST 20 years of doing this program, and it has to rank as the most rewarding thing I've ever done (besides morning radio, of course).  You too can be a part of this experience.

The Lunch, Learn and Play program is a summer camp located in beautiful Salem, New York.  I had the pleasure of taking a trip up there for the Reading, Writing and Rhyming Tour, and I certainly wasn't disappointed by the outcome!

This is the time that the Hillside Summer Camp in Niskayuna reserved for "Mismatch Day", where  happy campers adorn themselves with- you guessed it- clothes that don't go together. (Wow, a group after my own heart!)

I was at the Bethlehem YMCA for the Reading, Writing and Rhyming Tour, brought to you by….(insert sponsor's name here - we don't have one right now -hint hint) .  Anyway, this was a great chance to meet a bunch of real "Champs"

If this doesn't make you feel like summer in the Capital Region, nothing will.  Summer camp in Niskayuna!  And what's camp without a good camp song, especially if you can get all of them to write one of their own?

Always a rewarding experience visiting the Griswold Heights Community Center in association with the Troy Housing Authority and the Academy for Character Education.  These kids love this country and they are ready to sing about it!
