A herd of buffalo that was reportedly running loose in the Albany area since Thursday has been shot and killed, according to the Times Union. All 15 buffalo were killed by the people who owned the animals.

During a press conference, an official said a helicopter was used to herd the buffalo together before shooting them.

The animals were said to have broken through a fence at Gem Farms in Castelton-On-Hudson where they were being raised for meat. The buffalo mainly roamed around the Bethlehem area before going across the Hudson River. They also ran across the Thruway.

The animals were mostly shot in Coeymans.
