Every year it's fun to see who makes the list of CMA nominations for country music's biggest night.  However, every year there's always a few favorites missing from the list.

Since there are only five spots and hundreds of singers, someone's favorite is always going to be missing. Not to mention, the natural evolution of the fast-paced music business, where one year an artist could be smokin' hot and the next year not.

The biggest surprise on the 2013 CMA nominations list is that CMA host Brad Paisley is not up for one single award. Could it be that he's already peaked, voters don't favor his traditional style, or that his album 'Wheelhouse' didn't impress the voters this year?

Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Alan Jackson and Reba are no longer yearly mainstays on the list. Meanwhile, Josh Turner, Billy Currington, Dierks Bentley, Trace Adkins, and Joe Nichols have always struggled to get the nod. Even Tim McGraw was off the list the last few years, but finds a lucky spot thanks to his collaboration with Taylor Swift on "Highway Don't Care." George Strait was also missing last year, but he's landed a spot in the Entertainer of the Year category, probably fueled by "The Cowboy Rides Away Tour."
