What an amazing turn of events.  Who woulda thunk it? 

According to CNN.com, it's official.  They are shutting down all of the remaining 300 outlets.

They were beautiful stores, weren't they? It's basically suffered a similar fate as the music industry is facing.  People are downloading, not going to stores and purchasing actual physical, tactile boxes with their favorite media inside.

I don't know about you, but I'm slowly starting to miss that.  Pretty soon they'll be no books on our shelves to touch, no CD's or albums to pick up and read, no videos- nuttin!   We'll have nothing tangible to show for your hard earned money.

They are going to continue Blockbuster on Demand, however, so you can add that to your "virtual shelves".   Sad.  Very sad.    How do you feel?
