Eric Church ( @ericchurch) is having a great time playing for the GNA show in Albany at the Times Union Center. He had, we think, a red solo cup of whiskey on his mic stand and one on standby. Hat, sunglasses, and guitar - he rocked the TU Center. The crowd went wild with Springsteen too, of course.
Joe Nichols ( @joenichols ) brought the tequila to the Times Union Center - and perhaps some people kept their clothes on. We didn't look because were were too busy capturing great photos of his performance on stage! We're looking forward to the next time Joe is in Albany for sure!
Thompson Square ( @thompsonsquare ) was a crowd favorite - everyone was singing along to nearly every song including the Tom Petty song they covered. They did a great job and we hope to have them back again someday! Check out the photos!
Can you see yourself in this crowd? So many people taking over the city and making it country! Great crowd and we're not only halfway through the day. See if you can find yourself and keep an eye on our Twitter / Instagram feeds too for up to the minute updates.
This year Countryfest has two halves - outside and inside. Check out some of our local bands that performed after we took over Pearl Street! We'll keep adding more galleries as each band plays. Country is taking over the city and making it our own! There's never been so many cowboy hats in Albany.
The day is upon us - Countryfest 2012! We're all ready for a great performance from Eric Church and all of our other performers, both inside the TU Center and outside at our FREE street festival. We'll have our smartphones in our sweaty little hands all day to share the action with you - and since you'll probably have yours, we'd love to hear from you - and see what you're doing. Here's a guide to all of that.
If you were at the Empire State Plaza for the 4th, you saw another amazing fireworks show - if not here are the photos that our staff photographer Nick Lee snapped. We don't mean to brag, but these are some of the best photos of the fireworks at the Plaza we've ever seen!
The sad news we got earlier today about the death of Andy Griffith started a lively discussion around the station about how much we all loved The Andy Griffith Show and what our favorite moments and quotes were from the series. One of our staff members tweeted that "it's a sad day in Mayberry" and that got us thinking - out of all of the awesome small towns in our GNA community, which town is the most like Mayberry? Take our poll and tell us what you think!
