With winter weather hitting the Capital Region in a big way this weekend, the Albany area now has another way to enjoy the outdoors - ice skating.

After several delays which were needed to improve the condition of the ice, the Empire State Plaza ice rink is now officially open.

The New York State Office of General Services finally opened the rink for the season on Friday. The rink is expected to be open through mid-March with free skating available daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
