Albany Area Man Arrested For DWI After A Hit And Run Accident

A man was arrested on Sunday evening, September 30, 2012, after he was allegedly involved in a hit and run accident.

In a press release form the East Greenbush Police Department, 46 year old Nicholas Damopoulos was seen by police, pulling into his Schodack home, after it was reported that his car had allegedly hit another car in the Columbia Plaza in East Greenbush.

The police noticed that Damopoulus seemed to be drunk when they were talking to him on his front lawn. He refused to take a field sobriety or breathalyzer test. Damopoulos had several charges including felony DWI and leaving the scene of an accident. He had a previous DWI on his record, which lead to the charge of felony DWI.

Damopoulos was sent to the Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $10,000. He’s scheduled for a court appearance on Thursday, October 4, 2012.
