Zac Brown Band Jump Right in for Gatlinburg Wildfires Relief
Zac Brown Band are doing their part to help those affected by the wildfires that recently raged through Sevier County in Tennessee, in and around Gatlinburg.
Zac Brown recently sent an 18-wheeler food truck called Cookie -- which features a functional commercial kitchen and roughly 15 staff members from his Southern Ground location in Peachtree City, Ga. -- to Gatlinburg to deliver food and resources to those seeking refuge at Rocky Top Sports World, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.
"We took a look at it, and we realized food was such a part of everything," Southern Ground's Alyssa Goodman says. "We knew we could send Cookie, and we don't often do things like this, but this was something that was close, and we felt compelled to help because we could get Cookie there, so it was our way of helping those that needed us."
The Southern Ground staff was onsite for three days to offer support for those working at Rocky Top Sports World.
Zac Brown Band have also been confirmed to headline the Mountain Tough benefit concert, which is set to take place in Gatlinburg on Dec. 17 to benefit fire victims.
Other country stars have also stepped up on behalf of the fire victims, including Kenny Chesney, who hails from East Tennessee. He is partnering with the CMA to donate half a million dollars toward relief efforts, while Taylor Swift has partnered with the ACM to donate $200,000.
Dolly Parton started the My People Fund, donating $1,000 a month to families who lost their homes in the fires. She's also hosting a telethon on Dec. 13 to raise money for those impacted, with Reba McEntire, Chris Stapleton, LoCash, Chris Young and more already signed on to participate.
Viewers can donate by phone at 1-866-CARE-MORE or online at the Dollywood Foundation website.
