That Bike In Your Garage? It Could Be Worth Some Cash
A pandemic bicycle shortage could be your opportunity to sell those bikes you are not using anymore.
One thing we have all done during the pandemic is search for silver linings and positives. One great thing the pandemic did force us to do was getting outside more in an effort to find some recreation amidst all those social distancing guidelines. One of those activities New Yorker and American's gravitated to was bike riding. As you would imagine, that increased demand led to a bicycle shortage.
What does this mean? If you have moved on from biking, or if you have some of your kid's old bikes in your garage, now could be a great time to sell them. According to a Spectrum News report, local bicycle shops like Downtube Bicycle Works in Albany can't keep up with the demand for bicycles right now, and most warehouses are running short on supply. The demand is even causing problems for bicycle repair shops; WBRZ TV says parts for repairs like tires and tubes are even in short supply.
While the cash you would make probably won't change your life, with demand so high if you have some quality bikes now would be a great time to trade them in to a shop that sells used bikes or sell them yourself online. If you don't feel like selling them but just want them out of your garage, chances are you can also find some eager neighbors to take them off your hands to clear out that space in your garage.
Even as we begin to emerge from the pandemic, some new habits will stick and the sustained demand for bicycles is proof of that!
