Mark Chesnutt Shares a Health Update After Emergency Heart Surgery

Mark Chesnutt is on the mend after undergoing emergency quadruple bypass surgery last month.

The singer checked in on social media over the weekend, giving fans a brief health update and admitting he's itching to get back out on the road. Chesnutt posted a clip filmed at one of his shows, which shows the crowd roaring in excitement during his set.

"There's nothin like the crowd gettin excited two notes into a song of mine!" he wrote in the caption. "I'm healing at home comfortably. But I can't wait to get out singin with the band and the fans!"

Chesnutt's health emergency prompted him to cancel all the shows on his calendar when he went in for surgery in mid-June. As of Tuesday (July 9), his tour calendar is still wiped clean — but Chesnutt says that will change as he continues to heal.

Who Is Mark Chesnutt?

Mark Chesnutt scored his first country hit with "Brother Jukebox" in 1990. He notched eight No. 1 songs throughout the '90s, the final being "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," an Aerosmith cover he'd later express regret in recording because he felt it was too far removed from his traditional country wheelhouse.

Despite not being regularly nominated for country music awards, Chesnutt was a radio mainstay with at least three hits each year between 1991 and 1998. He has continued to record music and tour in the two decades since.

Chesnutt has been married to his wife Tracie since 1992. They share three children.
