Lately, if you turn on the radio or open up any form of social media, be it Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, you are more than likely to hear the song "Austin," by country newcomer, Dasha.

Who is Dasha and how did she get to where she is currently? Well, one country superstar — Keith Urban — actually played a part.

How Keith Urban Gave Dasha's Career a Big Boost

On the latest episode of Taste of Country Nights with Evan Paul On Demand, Dasha stopped by the Nashville studios to talk about everything from her music to eating gluten.

One of the questions posed: Which country artist opened the door for you and took you under their wing?

The "Austin" singer replied, "Keith Urban did, yea. I performed for him at Spotify House, during CMA Fest. I mean, getting that text from him that day was like, he was like, 'Hey Dash,' he called me D actually, 'hey D, it's Keith, in parenthesis, Urban.'"

Dasha kept going as her face lit up and she started laughing at what she was about to say. "And I was like, 'na I know who you are, we're good on the last name, there, humble king.'"

I asked if it was a blue or a green text, meaning did it come from a Android or an iPhone. Dasha said, "It was a blue text. He wouldn't have an Android, c'mon, Keith is way too cool for that."

This isn't the first time we've heard of an incredible text message from the country star. Some may remember another legendary text Urban sent to Lainey Wilson when asking her to sing on his song "Go Home W U."

"Keith has been super great, and so supportive, and he was just really excited to play 'Austin'," Dasha said. "Seeing him up there like ripping on guitar on it, it was like, 'That's why you wanted to play the song, because you wanted to rip the guitar on it.'"

Dasha rounded out the love for Urban with, "Keith knows what's up. He's very musical and his taste is so, like, refined. I dunno, he's also just such a good guy and he understands the music business so well and has so much joy for it still, which is hard when you been doing this for so long."

Evan Paul is the host of Taste of Country Nights, a syndicated radio show heard on more than 130 country radio stations nationwide, every night from 7PM to midnight. He plays the best new country music and interviews today's top stars, like Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Dan + Shay, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Chris Stapleton, Lady A, + more!
