There is a country song that has currently taken America by storm. It's by a new artist to the genre, Dasha, and it's called "Austin."

"Austin" became an instant hit on TikTok, leading to over 749,000 videos of creators dancing to the track and increasing Dasha’s following to over 780,000.

Notable TikTok creator Zoey Aune shared her line dance to the track, becoming her second most popular video to date, resulting in 29.6M views and 1.9M likes. Dasha reacted to fan videos by sharing her own dance to the track, garnering 70.5M views and 4M likes.

It's a catchy, on-target shot at an ex-boyfriend, and it was written by Dasha about a guy with whom she once was in a serious relationship. But who is he?

We recently chatted with the up-and-coming singer about her viral hit and the man who inspired it.

Dasha Gives an Update on the Guy Who Inspired "Austin"

The up-and-coming country star made a huge positive impression on me when she recently stopped by the Taste of Country Nights With Evan Paul studio.

Only in her early 20s, you can tell that she has an uncanny ability to not only sing, but to write songs, and she has a huge future in country music.

The song that she wrote that has taken off, "Austin," is a not-so-positive look into this mystery man that is one of her ex-boyfriends, who apparently wasn't very motivated at life.

This is apparent with lyrics like:

Did your boots stop workin'? / Did your truck break down? / Did you burn through money? / Did your ex find out? / Where there's a will, then there's a way / And I'm damn sure you lost it / Didn't even say goodbye / Just wish I knew what caused it.

I asked Dasha if the guy who inspired "Austin" knows that it's about him?

Dasha giggled, then said,

"He's fully aware that it's about him," she said. "I haven't heard a peep from him in probably over a year."

After we both looked at each other and tried not to laugh, Dasha continued, "He's probably like, 'Damn. Damn.' Ya know? Which is the reaction I want."

I could tell she felt really good and vindicated in that moment.

"He, like, fully has a new girlfriend, so like, I think he's chillin', I don't think he really cares that much, 'cause I'm not like, throwing his name out there, ya know? Like, no one knows who it's about, 'cause that's just rude."

The "Austin" singer continued, "But, I wish him the best ... great guy, I just, like, don't need him in my life."

See Pictures of Luke Combs' New Nashville Bar, Category 10

Luke Combs is ready to join the ranks of country artists who have opened their own bars in Nashville's Broadway district. The honky-tonk will be called Category 10, playing off of his debut single "Hurricane." Although true hurricanes are categorized no higher than a Category 5, Combs opted to double the intensity with a 10 ranking. It's a nod to his career, really.

Category 10 will be anything but small: The bar will be the largest entertainment venue on the strip, featuring the area's biggest dance floor and rooftop. Combs is also including more intimate spaces to accommodate young talented singers and songwriters.
