In America, there's no shortage of things that stand to be controversial, and bullet vending machines is the latest hot button issue.

Texas-based company American Rounds is installing ammo vending machines in grocery stores in several states, which will provide around-the-clock access to firearm ammunition.

This means anyone who is 21 or older can walk into a grocery store and swipe a card to purchase bullets of their choosing. It's a move the company says will "redefine convenience in ammunition purchasing," but critics are raising concerns about further gun violence in the country.

To buy bullets from a vending machine, you must first pass an AI two-step verification process. Here's how that works:

1. Scan your driver's license to verify that you are at least 21 and hold a valid ID.
2. Scan your face to verify your identity to make sure you are indeed who you say you are.

Then, select the ammo that you want and it drops down like a bag of Doritos.

The company is doubling down against any harsh critics that might pop up and try to shoot down their business model. A comment on the issue reads:

"Our machines are as easy to use as an ATM. Our automated ammo dispensers are accessible 24/7, ensuring that you can buy ammunition on your own schedule, free from the constraints of store hours and long lines."

The machines are available at six locations in three states so far: Oklahoma, Alabama and Texas.

According to the National Rifle Association of America Institute for Legislative Action, those three states do not require a permit to purchase guns and don't require gun owners to have licenses or register their firearms.

It has yet to be determined if American Rounds will be installing more machines in these states and/or expanding into other states, as well.
