A local man is in some serious trouble after he allegedly crashed his vehicle and then drove away.

The accident happened in the Town Of Hoosick, on Buskirk-West Hoosick Road. When the suspect started to leave the scene, a person that saw what happened took it upon themself and started to follow him.

A call was put into the New York State Police to report the incident.  A short time later, New York State Troopers caught up to the suspect, 50-year-old James P. Heaney from Greenwich, and arrested him. According to the article in The Post Star, State Police reported that Heaney had a few cocktails and had a blood alcohol content of 0.25 percent, which is more than triple the legal limit.

This allegedly isn’t Heaney’s first run in with the law which involved drinking and driving. It was reported that Heaney previously were at least five DWI arrests and also a suspended driver’s license. As a result, Heaney was charged with felony counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation Of A motor Vehicle.
