On the night of December 8th, 1980, the music world lost one of the biggest influences of all time: John Lennon.

As he was about to leave his New York City apartment, he was approached by a young man by the name of Mark David Chapman, shot and killed Mr. Lennon. I just wanted to take a moment and acknowledge him on the anniversary of his death. There aren't many people,  young and old, that don't know who John Lennon, or at least his band, The Beatles are. I remember hearing the news on t.v. on that fateful evening. Being his music was a big part of my life growing up, this made for a very sad evening. John Lennon (and The Beatles) had influenced many artists in almost every genre of music, including country. This brought to mind a 1990s Beatles tribute album done by several country artists including Tanya Tucker, John Berry, Willie Nelson and more. The album was called "Come Together: America Salutes The Beatles".

I also remember playing some of the songs, and giving away copies of the album on WGNA-F.M.

Rest In Peace, Mr. Lennon.
