This is a story that we hear far too often but 'it can never happen to me.' A Southhold, New York grandmother parked her car on a fairly busy street, in a small town, to run into a store. She left her grandchild asleep in the vehicle, thinking that she locked the door. When she came out, her Mercedes-Benz SUV was driving away with her 14-month old grandchild in it.

As I look back on this past year, I realize how thankful I really am. I wanted to bring this story back up, especially around the holidays to focus on how amazing people can be. Back in late January, my mom had a porch fire. She was inside but had no idea her house was on fire. A selfless man swooped in and saved my mom and her house.

We have been searching for the good samaritan that sprang into action to unselfishly help put out a fire that started on my mom's porch. The story is even more amazing when you hear Rob Rivers explain what made him do what he did to become a hero to my whole family.

Over the weekend my mom had a fire at her house. She wasn't even aware that her porch was on fire until a couple of good samaritans rushed in to help. They all played a part in getting her and my sister out safely and ultimately saving her house. There was one selfless good samaritan in particular that we are trying to find so that we may properly express our heartfelt gratitude to him. Without hesitation, he fearlessly ran up the stairs to my mom's house and started pouring water onto the flames in an attempt to extinguish the fire until the firefighters arrived.

A woman who found $8000 on the side of the road had no idea when she returned it, it was all connected to the Schoharie crash. Listen to Terri Brubaker's story. It is guaranteed to renew your faith in humanity.

One of my favorite things during the holiday season are the amazing stories of good samaritans and this year is no different. Apparently, there's an angel frequenting the Glenmont Walmart.

A good samaritan found 17 cats and kittens in a Tupperware bin - basically left for dead - in Schenectady on Tuesday morning. They were immediately brought to the Animal Protective Foundation where they're recovering.  Let's hope these cats and kittens can find a home.

There are people that believe that bikers are bad people.
