No New Liquor Store For Latham

The Fresh Market Commons is about the newest business area on Route 9 in Latham.

They have the Fresh Market grocery store, but don’t expect to find liquor in the Commons.

In a story from the Times Union, the New York State Liquor Authority rejected an application for Victory Wine & Spirits.14,500 square feet of space would have been occupied by the liquor store. Some of the competing stores in the area were against the opening of Victory.

At a hearing and witness testimony earlier this morning, N.Y. Liquor Authority Commissioner Jeanique Greene said that she found that the four closest liquor stores’ sales have been declining. I wonder if Victory is planning another Albany area location to open a store? Do you think that they should?
