When it comes to patriotic music, country music will always stand out, because it’s all American music. Plus the country stars can really do justice to a song, and make you proud to be an American. With Kevin Richards doing a tribute to the veterans on the Classic Country Hall Of Fame, I thought I would do a classic video to tie in with Kevin’s show. I felt this is a good video for all of us and also can pay tribute to our veterans. It was released in 1970, and it became one of the most popular in the career of the legendary Merle Haggard. It’s called “The Fightin’ Side of Me.” It’s a song that was geared against the protesters of the Viet Nam War.

Remember to thank a veteran, not just on Memorial Day weekend, but anytime. My favorite line in the song is about living in America - "if you don't love it, leave it." Do you agree?
