Countryfest 2011 is just around the corner at the Altamont Fairgrounds on July the 9th. I look forward to the show every year. Getting to enjoy a great summer day and some great music.Lou Roberts likes to call me the resident groupie here at WGNA so of course I also love the fact that I get to meet some great country stars.

I have been a Trisha Yearwood fan for years. She is one of the major reasons I started listening to country music again in the 90's. I always listened to country when i was very young thanks to my Mom and Dad. But as a teen I started to rebel at bit and listened to alot of hard rock music. Trisha and soon to be husband Garth Brooks changed all that in my high school days. I just loved Trisha's voice and the passion she showed in her songs.

Flash forward to 2008. When we announced the lineup for Countryfest that year, I had the biggest smile on my face. I would meet one of my favorite artists of all time. When that day finally came, it was hard for me to talk. I really don't get that starstruck, I've met Brooks and Dunn and Carrie Underwood and I was cool as a cucumber but it was different with Trisha. The typical "I am such a big fan, such a pleasure to meet you" line came out of my mouth! Then when I get my picture taken, I have the stupidest grin on my face! Could you tell I was Happy?

So I was able to cross meeting Trisha off my Bucket list and that makes me a very happy Country DJ. So what was your favorite countryfest memory? Don't forget you can send your photos from past Countryfests and make them a part of our Countryfest Yearbook.
