1980- Mickey Gilley’s version of the Buddy Holly song ‘True Love Ways’ goes to No. 1.

1975- Lefty Frizzell dies in Nashville following a stroke.  Hits included  ‘If You’ve Got The Money, I’ve Got The Time’ ‘Always Late With Your Kisses’ and ‘Saginaw, Michigan.’

Birthdays

George Hamilton IV, 1937.  A member of the Grand Ole Opry starting in 1961.  Hits include ’Abilene’ and ‘Break My Mind.’
