When I was a little kid, I remember hearing about Albany, California. I wondered how can that be? Two places called Albany? Obviously as I got older, I understood. Not to mention, I believe they pronounce it like a persons’ name – Al bany, instead of All bany. I decided to do a little research. I seemed to get the best answers with Wikipedia. I found 28 towns and cities that were all named Albany. I decided to stick with the United States, because there are a few places named Albany in other countries including Australia.

That was just in the U.S. Here are some that are supposedly named after Albany, New York.

These are just a few places named Albany. This would be a great game to play in the car with kids, and a great way for them to learn geography. See if they can come up with the places with the same names. Have you been to any of the other Albanies? Maybe we can get Richie to do same place names for Your Town Thursday.
