Additional Information

"Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder that first becomes apparent as a young child is learning speech. Children with apraxia of speech have great difficulty planning and producing the precise, highly refined and specific series of movements of the oral muscles that are necessary for intelligible speech." In general, not much is known about the disorder. The goal of the 2013 Capital Region Walk for Children with Apraxia of Speech is to educate the public, professionals, and parents, as well as to assist with fundraising to continue research as well as developing a support network for others affected by apraxia.
