When you’re traveling on Central Avenue in uptown Albany, you probably notice one of the most popular signs that has been there for as far back as any of us remember.

Westgate Sign - Google Street View

It’s the sign for the Westgate Shopping Center. You may not see it for a while. The landmark sign is being taken down to be refurbished.

According to the story from the Times Union, the neon lighting will be replaced by LED lighting, which will use much less electricity. A spokesperson stated that they’re hoping to have the new sign up and running just before Christmas
