Brad Paisley Dedicates ‘Me and Jesus’ to Doctor Infected With Ebola Virus

Brad Paisley says he was “moved” by the Christian doctor who is infected with the Ebola virus and selflessly gave the serum to his friend rather than taking it himself. In fact, the superstar singer was so impressed, he’s dedicated a track from his new album to the man.

Paisley used Twitter to reach out to Dr. Kent Brantly and to ask his 2.8 million followers to pray for the doctor’s recovery. Paisley referred to Brantly as a brave soul, writing:

But the singer went above and beyond just asking for prayers for Brantly. He also tweeted a preview of his song ‘Me and Jesus,’ dedicating it to the doctor. “I’m moved by the Christian Dr. Fighting Ebola who gave the serum to his friend. So here’s a bonus track. For him,” Paisley wrote.

Brantly has been the center of newspaper headlines as of late. The doctor contracted the Ebola virus in Liberia, where he was doing charity work, working with sick patients. He’s since been transported to Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital, where he’s being treated in an isolated unit. He’s officially the first person to enter the United States with Ebola.

It was originally reported that Brantly refused the experimental serum because it was the only one, and there’s another American battling the virus. USA Today reveals that Brantly has since taken a dose of the serum and “seems to be improving” according to the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

‘Me and Jesus’ is apparently a bonus track on Paisley’s upcoming album, ‘Moonshine in the Trunk,’ which is due out Aug. 26.
