Whisperin' Bill Anderson is a legend in the Country Music world.  More importantly, in 2011 he's still writing hit songs and performing concerts to very appreciative and loyal fans.  While long-time Country fans will remember Bill for classics like 'Still' and 'Bright Lights and Country Music,' today's Country fans will know him as the writer of 'Give It Away' for George Strait and 'Whiskey Lullaby' for Brad Paisley and Allison Krauss.

The 74 year old Country Music legend started his special day by blogging about how he felt on his web site.  The Country Music Hall of Famer says, "First thing I thought of this morning when I woke up was, Thank you, Lord. Thank you for letting me live for all these years. And thank you for blessing my life with children, grandchildren, success in my career, comfort in my home, and friends in my life. It's been quite a ride."

Bill Anderson is still singing his songs every weekend on the Grand Ole Opry, hosting Country's Family Reunion on RFD-TV, writing hit songs, and just being a great representative for Country Music, bridging Country Music's treasured past to the present day hits and stars.

I speak for all Country Music fans, new and old, by saying Happy Birthday Bill and keep on whisperin' those great songs! Leave your Birthday greetings for Bill Anderson below and check out one of Bill Anderson' s most recent recordings from his CD 'Songwriter.'
