It seems that when we hear about a bear being reported in areas where you normally don’t see bears, the story sometimes doesn’t have a happy ending. There was a bear reported in Halfmoon, and one in Pittsfield earlier this year.

Now, there’s been a bear cub reported in Greene County. It climbed up a tree in Windham, but couldn’t get down from it. When someone noticed it, they gave a call to the New York State Department Of Environmental Conservation.

One of the officers noticed that the helpless bear cub’s neck was caught in between two branches that formed a V. A local construction company was called in hopes of being able to use one of their boom cranes. Within a few minutes, the bear cub was freed from the tree.

According to the story from News 10 ABC, the cub took off and ran into the woods when it was rescued from the tree. There’s a You Tube video of the rescue.
