Today is the first day of August and is also U.S Air Force Day.Air Force Day was established on August 1, 1947, by President Harry Truman "in recognition of the personnel of the victorious Army Air Forces and all those who have developed and maintained our nation's air strength."

The Air Force means alot to me not only because they help defend our country on a daily basis but also because of my family. My father was a Staff Sargent the Air Force before I was born serving most of his time in the U.S working in Mississippi, Maine and Illinois but also serving overseas in Thailand and Korea. My Brother in Law is currently a Major  in the Air Force. He has served our country well spending 6 months in Afghanistan and very recently spent a year in Iraq.

Even though this day hasn't been officially observed since the 1940's, I take pride in being part of an Air Force family and thank all our great men and women who serve!  God bless you all and God bless America!
