Other dwellings started paying trash collection fee 2 years ago, and a 2019 budget proposal calls for single family homes to start paying the fee.

According to a Times Union report, a 2019 plan proposed by Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan single family homes will have to start paying a $90 yearly garbage pickup fee. The new fee will affect approximately 13,500 homes. The fee itself is not new as multi-unit dwellings began paying a fee 2 years ago.

According to the Times Union article the fee is part of a plan to balance the budget for 2019. You can imagine this is s challenge every year as all the state owned property in the city is tax exempt. I guess this is one bit of good news - the city's '(property) tax levy' remains the same as part of the 2019 proposal.

I guess $90 a year is not bad for trash pickup - we pay monthly in Clifton Park, but then again taxes seem to be a little more reasonable than in Albany. No matter how you add it up, you are always paying somewhere in some fashion right?
