The last few years there have been some great TV Specials to go along with the ACM awards including the George Strait Artist of the Decade Tribute and Brooks and Dunn Last Rodeo specials. This year is no different as the Academy of Country Music is honoring some of the best ladies in Country Music today.

The honorees include Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride and Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland and they are being honored for special achievements in their careers.

According to Country Weekly, Reba is being honored for winning the ACM female vocalist award more times than any other with 7 wins. Carrie is honored for being the only female artist to win the ACM Entertainer of the year trophy twice. Martina is being honored for raising social awareness in songs such as "Independence Day".  Miranda is being honored as the only female artist to win the ACM Album of the Year twice and Jennifer is being honored for her songwriting. "Stay" which Nettles wrote on her own, won Song of the Year in 2008.

The Event will take place in Las Vegas on April 4th and will be broadcast on CBS6 at a later date. I would think if this is like the other events the ACM's have put on, other country stars will take part in singing songs from these artists. I always enjoy hearing another artists spin on a hit song!
