Why Is Jack's Oyster House Up For Sale?

Rosenstein said that he was trying to keep the restaurant open under someone else but the plan never came through. When he announced the temporary closure, it was to renovate the restaurant, the basement, and the second and third floors which was a banquet room.

He hoped to reopen in January of 2023 to celebrate the restaurant's 110th anniversary.

What Kind Of Buyer Is He Looking For?

Rosenstein will sell Jack's Oyster House name but, according to him, it has to be the right fit because he wants to see Jack's back open.

What is the History Behind Jack's Oyster House?

Jack Rosenstein was once an oyster shucker at a different restaurant and then opened Jack's Oyster House on the corner of Beaver and Green Streets in Albany. Coffee, back then, only cost pennies and the most expensive meal on the menu was just thirty-five cents according to their website. Then he moved it to State Street and the one hundred fifty-seat restaurant has been an iconic staple in downtown Albany ever since.

Rosenstein hopes to find a buyer that will carry on the name and the 111-year reputation.
