McDonalds is probably the first place people think of when it comes to grabbing a quick bite to eat. It's especially true for the kids because of the Happy Meal. Unfortunately it’s also getting a big blame for childhood obesity. That’s about to change because they’re changing the Happy Meal.

McDonalds Happy Meal

According to a story from CNN, “the core of the Happy Meal will remain the same as kids will still get fries (a smaller portion) and a choice of a hamburger, cheeseburger or chicken nuggets.” They will soon be carrying apple slices with the meal. It used to be an option for kids to choose apples as an option in the Happy Meals, but now it will automatically come with it.

They are also planning some other changes to become healthier. In a story from our friends at Fox 23 News, “McDonald's pledged to reduce sugars, saturated fats and calories through "varied portion sizes, reformulations and innovations" by 2020."  The date for the Happy Meal change is slated for early in 2012, for all of the restaurants including the stores in the Albany area.

I still love their hamburgers and fries. How often do you stop at McDonalds?
