Ice Skate At The Empire State Plaza In Albany
If you’re looking for something to do with the kids this weekend, take them ice skating at the Empire State Plaza (ESP) in Albany.
The rink re-opened last weekend for the first time since 2008. I did a blog about that back in December, and now it’s officially open.
If you’re worried about parking, since it’s the weekend, there’s usually not a problem. Most of the metered parking is suspended on the weekends, plus a lot of the offices are closed. This make for some more available parking spaces.
It's also a very affordable way to spend on a day of outdoor fun, because it’s free, unless you need to rent skates. You can rent them for less than five dollars per pair. There’s also a lounge that has a snack bar, and some lockers to put your extra stuff.
The rink is open everyday from 11:00 a.m. – 8 p.m. I tried ice skating a few times many years ago, but I didn’t have any success. Maybe I need to try again.
