Plans are in motion to make a popular Upstate New York Ski Mountain into a full ski-and-stay ski resort complete with all of the amenities. The layout has been presented but there are more steps that have to be made before it gains approval.
West Mountain has been part of the North Country in Queensbury since 1961 and there are big plans to expand it into a slopeside resort. There are a few things that need to be done first through town officials and the approval of the Town Board later this month. But the Planned Unit Development needs to approve the whole thing and the hope is that they will by the end of the year.
There are plenty of local ski mountains in and around the Capital Region and this summer they are remaining open to offer different activities to help recoup what was lost during the pandemic. If you are traveling the Northway or out toward Queensbury, you may see the ski lift running full-time.
What do you do on the first weekend of spring? Go snow tubing of course. Yesterday was a gorgeous 62 degrees so we headed up to West Mountain to go snow tubing. Ryan was invited to a birthday party so I tagged along. It was such a nice day and a little bit strange considering there was snow on the mountain yet we were enjoying the sun and the warm weather. Jenn even had to apply sunscreen.
