The recent death of the Olympic skier Bode Miller's daughter from drowning in a friends pool, pool and water safety are on many parents minds. According to the American Red Cross, over 200 children drown in backyard pools every year.

Last year, Lake George's Million Dollar Beach was closed for most of the season due to high levels of sewage in the water. The Governor has announced that they are receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars to ensure that beach will remain open and be safe for swimming.

Bridget Simpson of Ticonderoga plans to swim the 32 mile length of Lake George starting today at the public docks in Lake George Village, according to New York Upstate.

On Friday, the news came down that this local beach would not be open in time for the weekend. Well it didn't take too long, you can enjoy it now just in time for the hot weather.

I've heard of the ideas of nudist beaches and nudist areas but I guess I never really thought they could be real, or maybe I just never thought of them as an option. Surprise, not only are there a ton but some are really close by to the Capital Region!
