Sitterly Road

There has been a lot of construction in the area of Exit 9 in Clifton Park for quite some time. The major rebuilding of the Sitterly overpass was the main reason. The construction of Sitterly Road was completed early but there is still more to be done. This week, construction continues.

About one year ago, almost to the day, a truck with a hydraulic lift plowed into the Sitterly Road overpass in Clifton Park. The road has been closed on and off for a year but now to actually replace the bridge and road, Sitterly Road will be closed all week.

Its gonna be a long summer

Back on April 14th, a boom lift on a truck trailer struck the Northway overpass of Sitterly Road damaging the structure. The bridge had to be demolished and was then replaced with a temporary structure. The Department of Transportation just announced that they will be replacing the bridge entirely with a wider and taller bridge on Sitterly Road.

Thank goodness no one was injured when a lift truck on a tow truck slammed into the Sitterly Road overpass above the Northway between Exit 9 and Exit 8a on April 14th. But it did major damage to the Sitterly Road Bridge. The Department of Transportation has been working hard to get that overpass open and even though it's just a temporary fix, it will alleviate some of the traffic congestion in that area.
