Gerry McNamara's passionate press conference has fans of the Siena Saints' men's basketball program excited about the future.

The NCAA tournament doesn't have to be in town for a big-time college basketball atmosphere to pop-up in Albany. Eighteen times since 2001, the Siena Saints and the UAlbany Great Danes have matched up in men's basketball, resulting in some of the area's largest crowds of the season. So, why not find the best times and dates to encourage that excitement?

In the preseason MAAC men's basketball coaches poll, Siena was picked to come in sixth place. The Saints don't often get their deserved respect but they roll into Rider Friday night in second place in the conference with less than 2 weeks remaining in the regular season. Coach Carm and the green and gold are the last team to defeat Rick Patino and the first place Iona Gaels, who have won seven straight since.

For the second time in less than three years, Siena College will be looking for a new college president. The Loudonville, NY college of 3500 plus undergraduate students swore in a new leader in July of 2020, in the middle of the worst of the pandemic. Now, foreseeably on the other-side of the societal shut-down, former U.S. Congressman, Chris Gibson is stepping down as president of the college after this academic year is completed.

On January 1, 2022, the Times Union Center changed its name for the first time since 2007, becoming the MVP Arena. With a new name, brings new signs everywhere.

In a year full of plenty of highs, and at least an equal amount of lows, here are the top ten sports moments in the Capital Region from 2021.

Monday night, Siena men's basketball coach Carm Maciariello's team got their first win. It was an important step in Coach Carm's process.

Time has officially run out on the Times Union Center. Albany's famous sports venue will have a brand new name come the beginning of 2022.

Mere days are left in the Times Union Center's current naming rights contract, and reports are surfacing that a change may be imminent.
