New York is the only state in America to require a four way stop every time a school bus stops, but that may be changing.

It is important that all drivers are alert and aware of all stopped school buses. It's also imperative that you follow the rules of the road when it comes to school buses.

It is unlawful to pass a stopped school bus in either direction but before this new legislation passed, it had to be witnessed by a police officer. Now the new law, which passed this week, allows surveillance cameras to be admissible to fine and prosecute the drivers who blow past a stopped school bus.

More than anything, we just want our kids to be safe. Apparently, there are some people who don't understand the rules of a school bus and Cuomo is hoping these regulations will may them clearer.

It always surprised me that school buses only had lap seat belts or some, none at all. Well it may be mandatory soon to have safer measures on school buses including better seat belts.
